Aside from visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, another must see in
Kandy is the Ragahala Kandyan Dance, which is traditionally performed using
percussions particularly the drum of “Geta Beraya”.
Originated in the central hills of Sri Lanka, this traditional
dance, only train male dancers before has its roots as an exorcism ritual known as the
Kohomba Kankariya. Dancers wear metallic anklets, metallic headdress and
very elaborate costume including embellished beaded net known as the “Ves”.
For 500 rupees at the Red Cross Hall, a walking distance from the
Kandy National Museum, you can watch the "Kandy" Dance, as it
showcase Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage.
