The
Asian Youth Orchestra or the AYO, the Asia's premier pre-professional orchestra
was recently in Singapore for its 22nd concert here since its birth in 1987.
With over 350 concerts in 78 countries around the world, the AYO continues to
create beautiful music thru its repertoire of Sibelius, Beethoven, Brahms,
Weber, Dvorak and Haydn.
This
year, the 23rd Asian Youth Orchestra, is composed of young talented musicians
from 11 countries and territories.
From
the Philippines, three Filipinos* are among the 98 brightest members who will
tour Asia this summer bringing them to Singapore, Vietnam, Taipei, Hong Kong,
China and Japan.
Headed
by Richard Pontzious, its founder, artistic director and conductor, and Steven
Isserlis, an acclaimed British cellist, the 98 young achievers started touring
Asia in Hanoi and will end in Tokyo this month.
