Asian Youth Orchestra

The Asian Youth Orchestra or the AYO, the Asia's premier pre-professional orchestra was recently in Singapore for its 22nd concert here since its birth in 1987. With over 350 concerts in 78 countries around the world, the AYO continues to create beautiful music thru its repertoire of Sibelius, Beethoven, Brahms, Weber, Dvorak and Haydn.

This year, the 23rd Asian Youth Orchestra, is composed of young talented musicians from 11 countries and territories.

From the Philippines, three Filipinos* are among the 98 brightest members who will tour Asia this summer bringing them to Singapore, Vietnam, Taipei, Hong Kong, China and Japan.

Headed by Richard Pontzious, its founder, artistic director and conductor, and Steven Isserlis, an acclaimed British cellist, the 98 young achievers started touring Asia in Hanoi and will end in Tokyo this month.

Do catch the AYO this summer and listen to one of the best young orchestra in the world.
