Jewish House in Singapore

If you want to see Sir Meyer's bungalow, drive to Changi Village and go to the Civil Service Club office.

Circa 1930, Singapore… Sir Manasseh Meyer was a  Jewish capitalist and figure in the early Jewish community in Singapore. He was responsible for the construction of Chesed-El Synagogue at Oxley Rise and Maghain Aboth Synagogue at Waterloo Street.

Sir Meyer was a regarded as close friend of the British Government during the time when Malaya was still a British colony.

The Manasseh Meyer Building (a national monument) can be seen inside the National University of Singapore’s Bukit Timah university grounds.
